Everyone gets a cutout
Accessibility at All Blown Up
We want every customer to be able to browse, upload a photo and order a cutout, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Our commitment
All Blown Up is a small business run by real people, and we would rather fix an accessibility problem than hide behind a disclaimer. Our website is built so that the content, the photo uploader and the checkout can be used with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at high zoom levels and on a phone.
We do not use an accessibility overlay or a plug-in widget. Overlays sit on top of a site and try to patch it from the outside, and they often get in the way of the assistive technology someone already uses and trusts. We chose to build the accessibility into the site itself instead.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the level most commonly referenced in United States accessibility law and the one we hold our own work to.
Accessibility is not a box we tick once. Our catalogue, our photos and our fundraiser pages change regularly, so we treat this as ongoing work rather than a finished project. If something on this site does not meet that standard, we want to know about it and we will fix it.
What we have built in
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, filter, accordion and form field can be reached and operated with the Tab, Enter, Space and arrow keys. Nothing on the site requires a mouse.
- A visible focus indicator. Whatever you are currently on is outlined clearly, so you never lose your place while tabbing.
- Skip to content. The first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page is a link that jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
- Real page structure. Pages use proper headings in order, landmark regions (header, navigation, main, footer) and real buttons and links, so screen readers can announce and navigate the page correctly.
- Labelled forms. Every field on our contact form, order form and photo uploader has a permanent visible label, not just placeholder text that disappears when you start typing. Errors are shown in text, not by colour alone.
- Alternative text on images. Product photos and gallery images carry descriptive alt text. Decorative graphics are marked so screen readers skip them instead of reading noise.
- Colour and contrast. Our red on cream palette was checked for contrast, and we never use colour as the only way of communicating something. Price changes, errors and selected options all carry text as well.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, our animations, reveals and transitions turn themselves off automatically.
- Zoom and reflow. The site is responsive and reflows down to a narrow phone screen, so text stays readable at 200% zoom without side-to-side scrolling.
- Touch targets. Buttons and controls are sized for fingers, not just cursors, particularly on phones.
Known limitations
Being honest about the gaps is part of this:
- Checkout. Payment is handled by Shopify's own checkout, which we do not control. Shopify maintains its own accessibility work for that step.
- Customer reviews. Reviews are displayed through a third party tool. We style it to match our site, but its underlying markup is not ours.
- Older customer photos. Images uploaded by customers in the past may not have descriptive alt text, because they were submitted before we asked for one.
- Uploaded photographs. A cutout is made from your own photo, so the finished product is inherently visual. We describe every product in text, and a real person reviews every order and sends a free proof before printing.
Trouble ordering? We will help
If any part of this website makes it hard to place an order, email us and we will take the order for you. No explanation needed.
Email: brian@allblownup.com
Or use our contact form.
We can talk you through sizes, take your photo by email, and handle the whole order for you. That option has always existed and it is not a second class one.
Tell us about a problem
If you hit an accessibility barrier here, please tell us what happened, which page you were on, and what device, browser or assistive technology you were using. That detail is what lets us reproduce and fix it.
Email brian@allblownup.com or use our contact form. We read every message and we will tell you what we find.
